Who can’t relate to the excitement of treasure hunting?
Blog post #0001
We’ve all grown up playing games or reading stories about hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. It’s an idea that sparks adventure, hope, and a sense of wonder. Today, as I listened to a video by John Ortberg, a thought crossed my mind that stirred my heart.
The video talked about treasures, but I realized something even deeper—the true treasures aren’t just gold or jewels locked away in chests. Treasures are held in treasure boxes, just like the hearts inside of us. Have you ever thought about how you and others around you are treasure containers?
It’s a humbling idea, isn’t it?
God created us as the crown of His creation, and within us, He placed gifts that are more valuable than anything the world can offer.
Our hearts are treasure chests meant to hold God’s love, joy, mercy, and goodness. But here’s the important question: What are we doing with our hearts? Are we making space for His grace to flow in, or are we filling it with the clutter of life—worry, fear, resentment—that weighs us down?
Just like a treasure chest has only so much room, so does our heart. What we choose to fill it with will either uplift us or burden us.
Do we hold onto His love and hoard these precious gifts, or do we share them? After all, what good is a treasure hidden away? Eternal gifts, like God’s love and mercy, multiply when shared.
So, maybe the real treasure hunt isn’t about discovering something outside of ourselves, but rather unlocking the fullness of what God has placed within us. And the most beautiful part?
This treasure never runs out—it only grows the more we give it away.
Matthew 6:21
